About Bill

Bill Sawaya is a proven academic leader who has built a culture of collaboration where faculty work together to deliver excellent student programming, conduct impactful research, and serve the broader business community. As Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Management at Bowling Green State University, he specializes in operations management, supply chain management, and process improvement—disciplines with the potential for significant impact in every organization.

Bill's research focuses on decision-making in complex supply networks, technology in supply chains, quality improvement, and sustainable operations. He is a founding member of the Complex Adaptive Supply Networks Research Accelerator at Arizona State University, and his work has been published in leading journals including Decision Sciences, IIE Transactions, and Business Horizons. He serves as an associate editor for Decision Support Systems and on the editorial review board for the Quality Management Journal.

Beyond academia, Bill has consulted across various industries on supply chain management, strategic sourcing, quality systems, and pricing. Bill holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota, a Master's in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor's in Manufacturing Engineering from Brigham Young University.
